For an improved durability and a longer life the pins are hardcoated while the weight could be reduced by about 65% compared to the normal pins."

Sander Borghoff - Velox V10

Front-running Dutch 1/10 Racer Sander Borghoff joins Team Shepherd Benelux for the 2012 season. The podium-finsher of the Durch National championship will use the Velox V10 "eleven" at all major national races, the EFRA GP in Apeldoorn and the European Nitro Challenge in Hockenheim.

Sander had the following to say:

"I'am really looking forward to drive with this great car! I would like thank Team Sheperd and Team Sheperd Benelux for giving me this oppurtunity, i will try to achieve the best results possible!"

M. Romagnoli joins Sonic

Top Italian 1/8th scale racer Michele Romagnoli joins Team Sonic for the 2012 season. The Italian vice-champion of 2011 will be a strong addition to the team helping to improve the Sonic product line with his experience. Having Finshed 4th at the last European Championship in Luxembourg he is aiming to improve his result at the upcoming Euros in Portugal. Additionally he will attend all national championship races as well as some regional events.

Daniele Ielasi - Sonic Engines

Team Sonic is very proud to announce the cooperation with former World and European Champion Daniele Ielasi. Together with Sonic creator Patrick Schäfer he is responsible for the development and improvement of the engine line as well as for the sales and support for the competetive Italian market. Additionally he will attend all major national and international races including the 1/8 Euros in Portugal, the 1/10 Euros in Italy and the 1/10 Worlds in Thailand using the Sonic V.12T and the Sonic V.21T.

Daniele had the following to say:

Ielasi wins in Lucca

"Daniele Ielasi has won the “Classic” edition of the Winter Trophy in Lucca, Toscana. It was the first race in Europe for the former World Champion with the Velox V10 for more than one year. With Dario Balestri another international top driver was attending and both worked hard for the victory with a small advantage on Balestri's side as Lucca is his hometrack.

In qualifying Ielasi was placed second behind Balestri but the fastest laps were nearly on the same level. At the start of the final both pulled away and stayed within 2 seconds for the next 10 minutes. After the second pitstop Balestri was hit by technical problems and the way was free for an easy victory for Ielasi.

After the race Daniele had the following to say:

'Although it was only a fun race I'm very happy about the result as I didn't drive much 1/10th scale touring car in the last 1,5 years. My Shehperd Velox V10 worked really great and I could test some new setups. I'm looking forward to the next races.'"

Shepherd - Simon Kurzbuch

Shepherd Micro Racing is happy to announce that Swiss star Simon Kurzbuch prolongs his contract with them for another two years. The World and European Championship main finalist will continue to use the Velox V8 at various national and international events including the European Championship A in Portugal. Together with his father and brother as mechanics he will additonally help the Shepherd team to improve their products by giving assistance on testing new items.
Simon had the following to say:

"I'm looking forward to racing another two years for Team Shepherd. The A-Final at the WC in Miami and at the EC in Luxemburg were definitely the highlights of the last season. This hadn't been possible without the good support and cooperativness of the whole team. I would like to thank Team Shepherd and my two fantastic mechanics."

S.Bouche joins Team Shepherd

Stephane Bouche rejoins Team Shepherd for the 2012 season. After one year of abstinence the front running Frenchman switches back to the German manufacturer using the Velox V8 in the upcoming season. Stephane plans to attend both Euros A and B as well as all rounds of the French National Expert Championship giving support to all fellow Shepherd drivers.

Stephane has the following to say:

'I'm really enjoying to come back to the Team Shepherd for 2012 after 1 year of transition. The Velox V8 "eleven" is really successful and I hope to have some good results for the Euro B in France and Euro A in Portugal next year. I would like to thank Team Shepherd and French distributor Andelle Competition for their confidence, and best whishes to all for 2012.'"

Mendoza State Championship (Argentina)

The last race of the Mendoza State Championship - which is considered the second most important racing series after the nationals - was held in the city of Mendoza, Argentina. The final round out of 7 saw all the championship contenders working hard for the overall victory.
Shepherd driver Fabio Ferrero was in good shap and claimed the TQ in front Chilean guest driver Matias Arangue also using a Velox. In the final Ferrero was leading from the start to the end clocking a new lap record of 15,008 sec with Arangue finishing in second place one lap down. Having won 3 rounds out of 7 Ferrero to claimed the overall championship title with this result after placing second at the Argentinian nationals 0,8 sec behind the winner some weeks ago.

New Shepherd Matrix Tyres

Shepherd Micro Racing has inroduced another line of foam tyres: "Shepherd tyres by Matrix". For several reasons they are a class of their own. Already before the first step of the production an intensive quality management ensures an excellent performance of the tyres as all raw material is checked with a special equipment to guarantee the correct shore hardness. The computer aided manufacturing makes sure that all tyres meet the high quality standard. A special lightproof and airtight packing foil allows to stock the tyres for a long time without affecting the quality or performance of the tyres. The final result is a tyres which has excellent traction combined with a low tyre wear. They will be available on white standard rims as well as on black carbon rims. The carbon rims are about 12% lighter while the stability is increased at the same time.

We are happy to announce the introduction of the ceramic-excentric set for the Velox V8. This set includes 16 ceramic ball bearings for a smoother and free drivetrain as well as an increased longevity. With the excentrics it's possible to change the position of the wheelaxle giving more setup options to the user. Special 12x16x0,1mm shims are included to finetune the play of the wheelaxle.
